In South America, the genus Esphalmenus is known for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, but has never been reported for Colombia.
On iNaturalist, these specimens of Esphalmenus were 2022 observed at the Nevado del Ruiz and Nevado de Santa Isabel of the Cordillera Central, a part of the Andes.
