4 species of the genus Metisolabis (formerly known as Brachylabis) have been described from the Oriental and Indoaustralian Region:

- Brachylabis punctata Dubrony, 1879 -> Metisolabis punctata (Dubrony, 1879)
- Brachylabis bifoveolata Bolívar, 1897 -> Metisolabis bifoveolata (Bolívar, 1897)
- Brachylabis caudelli Burr, 1908 -> Metisolabis caudelli (Burr, 1908)
- Metisolabis fulgens Steinmann, 1989

Srivastava (2003) synonymized on page 137 Metisolabis caudelli with Metisolabis fulgens. According to Steinmann (1989) Brachylabis caudelli is a synonym of Metisolabis punctata, therefore all 3 species must be treated as Metisolabis punctata.
Anisyutkin (1997) mentions the species as Brachilabis punctata and reports: "At present B. punctata is considered to be a widely distributed species. Sakai (1996, p. 15) gives the following area for this species: "Oriental region, New Guinea, N. Australia". The original description was based on a female. The holotype was re-described by Srivastava ( 1983) as lsolabis punctata."
Matzke (2012) listed the following synonyms of M. punctata: Brachylabis caudelli Burr, 1908, Isolabis caudelli Burr, 1908, Metisolabis caudelli Burr, 1910 and Leptisolabis punctata Burr, 1911.

On iNaturalist, singaporean specimens of the species showed a pronotum longer than wide, eyes larger than the genae and a long scapus. In Steinmann (1989) those characteristics key out M. fulgens and M. punctata. Srivastava reports "The description of Metisolabis fulgens Steinmann from Myanmar fits well within the variational range of this species and treated as a synonym".

It should be one species, but it's still noticeable, that there seem to be different morphotypes.
