Labidura herculeana (Kirby, 1900) – endemic to eastern St. Helena, officially extinct and last seen 1967
Paralabella murrayi (Fabricius, 1798) – endemic to Christmas Island, Australia and last seen around 1900

- From 1798–1962 only two specimens and a few forceps of the up to 84 mm long Labidura herculeana had been collected. From 1965–1967 40 specimens had been collected. Afterwards, no one ever saw living specimens again.There have been several search expeditions to find L. herculeana again, 1988 and 1993 by the London Zoo, 2003 by Philip Ashmole and 2006 by Howard Mendel. In 1995 a subfossilized forceps of a female had been found in the Prosperous Bay. 2005, a new airport on St. Helena was announced. Scientists were afraid of a negative effect on endemic species, e.g. for L. herculeana in case it still existed. 2007 in a referendum, 3800 citizens of St. Helena were pro airport and its authorization was made in 2016. The species was declared extinct by the IUCN in 2014. The introduction of rats and mice, the destruction of Commidendrum robustum-trees and the concurrence with the introduced Scolopendra morsitans led to the extinction of the species.
