Added new and previously known species from Spain:
      Pseudochelidura catabrica
      Canarilabis canariensis
      Canarilabis hierrensis
      Guanchia palmensis

      Added one Chinese species:
Forficula brachyptera Sakai & Zhang, 1994

Fixed taxonomic position of Gonolabina (moved to Esphalmeninae as done by Sakai and Mariani and listed in latest papers of Vera and Kamimura)

      Fixed Pseudochelidura species:
      Moved Pseudochelidura galvagnii to Forficula
Synonymized P. minor and P. montuosa with P. sinuata
Moved back to original genus species Forficula orsinii

Adjusted position of Ornatolabis externa, move to Mongolabis is not substantiated. It was just listed in Nishikawa's paper in table, but I believe it is his mistake, he assumed that all Gelotolabis species moved to Mongolabis, but this is not the case. Anisolabis (Gelotolabis?) externa was never moved to Mongolabis and listed in Sruvastava 1999 under Ornatolabis Steinmann 1989 separately from other Mongolabis(=Gelotolabis) species.

      Added several fossil species.

Added 4 Esphalmenus species from Mariani's conference papaer but listed as no description/invalid by now, as the description of them may be not published (will try to contact author to clarify).

    • permico has written a new post "Allodahliinae (16)" 04.06.2025

I have moved Eulithinus at DSF to parent Forficulidae (without subfamily) according the change suggested in the article you mentioned above:
      Puerta-Rodriguez, L., Jurado-Angulo, P., Jiménez-Ruiz, Y., Rosas-Ramos, N. & García-París, M. (2024) Systematics of the Sierra Nevada endemic earwig: Eulithinus analis (Forficulidae, Dermaptera). European Journal of Taxonomy, 935, 137–165. https://doi.org/10.5852/ejt.2024.935.2553
Also added references for previous placement of genus in Forficulinae, Anechurinae, Allodahliinae.

    • permico has written a new post "Species missing on DSF - up to date list" 04.05.2025

      - Fixed mess with Titanolabis bormansi (=Titanolabis gigas) from Australia and Titanolabis myanmarensis (=Paratitanolabis bormansi=Titanolabis bormansi) from Myanmar. It was all mixed in DSF. Issue was rectified in Haas and Engel 2007, but on DSF both species were mixed together and all linked to species from Myammar.
      - Marava sindhesis Saund & Baloch, 2024 recenty described from Pakistan.
      - Fixed name Anataeliidae as synonym of Anataeliinae (actually family name Anataeliidae was used only once in general entomology book without any description and reasoning of changing rank to family, so may be considered as nomen nudum).
      - Fixed synonym of Forficula planicollis: Forficula ledongae [sic] Hebard, 1923 (misspelling of Forficula lebongae Hebard, 1923) in Bey-Bienko 1959.
      - Added some fossil species of Protodiplatyidae (still a lot of fossil species are missing, will add them slowly).
      - Found other misspellings created in previous DSF version and then cited in another places, both for fossil earwigs:
Anisodiplatys Vishnyakova, 1980 is misspelling of Asiodiplatys Vishnyakova, 1980. Name was never used in Vishnyakova's publications (I checked all), source of it is not clear, probably mistake in database propagated to Catalogue of Life, mindat, Wikipedia and almost everywhere.
Babderma Xing, Shih & Ren, 2016 is misspelling of Barbderma Xing, Shih & Ren, 2016. Name was not used in original publication, source of it is not clear, probably mistake in database propagated to Catalogue of Life, mindat, Wikipedia and almost everywhere.
      - Eulithinus moved to parent Forficulidae (without subfamily) according the change suggested in:
      Puerta-Rodriguez, L., Jurado-Angulo, P., Jiménez-Ruiz, Y., Rosas-Ramos, N. & García-París, M. (2024) Systematics of the Sierra Nevada endemic earwig: Eulithinus analis (Forficulidae, Dermaptera). European Journal of Taxonomy, 935, 137–165. https://doi.org/10.5852/ejt.2024.935.2553

    • permico has written a new post "Allodahliinae (16)" 03.23.2025

Allodahlia ochroptera Brindle, 1972 – Myanmar is synonym of A. coriacea as per Srivastava (actually it is A. coriacea signata, but this was not specified in Srivastava's paper):
      Ref.
Srivastava, G. (1993) Notes on Dermaptera (Insecta) of Namdapha (Arunachal Pradesh, India) a proposed biosphere reserve. Records of the Zoological Survey of India, 91(1), 61–87.
I have added synonymy at DSF.

Eulithinus not yet transferred to Allodahliinae formally although it was mentioned that it may be related to Pseudochelidura.

    • permico has written a new post "Species missing on DSF - up to date list" 03.23.2025

Added Allodhalia coriacea supspecies (signata and coriacea).
Allodahlia ochroptera synonymized with A. coriacea as per Srivastava.
Forficula stenotica Zhang & Yang, 1992 synonymized with F. genitalia as per Srivastava and I also mentioned synonymy with F. ornata as per Fauna Sinica (I think this need to be investigated further, better by comaprison of holotypes, as F. ornata and F. genitalia are quite different species).
Restored O. chinensis as per last publication by Chen Z.-T. about Chinese Oreasiobia with description of O. meria.
There is misspelling created in previous DSF version: Forficula vrobusta Semenov, 1908 as synonym of F. robusta Semenov, 1908 and F. scudderii. Name was never used in Semenov's publications (I checked all), source of it is not clear, probably mistake in database propagated to GBIF and Mindat.

    • permico has written a new post "Species missing on DSF - up to date list" 03.16.2025

Fixed almost all isuees listed up to now.
Paralabella rehni added as synonym of Spirolabia pilicornis with ref to Steinmann catalogue
Anechura sven-hedini and Forficula kinfu-montis listed in Steinmann's redaction of species names Anechura svenhedini and Forficula kinfomontis (in line with ICZN guidelines)
Pygidicrana staphylinoides added outside of Dermaptera as synonym of Embiolyntha staphylinoides (=Olyntha staphylinoides)
Pseudoisolabis renschi not transferred to Isolaboides and kept under Parisolabis because we do not have any reference to this change (Hincks mentioned that it is probably should belong to Isolaboides)
Nesogaster cristata link is to old OTU, no need to fix, the system is keeping old OTUs for subjective synonyms, which still may be accessed by direct link.
Added several missing modern species (Nala mendesi, Forficula longidilatata, F. choprai, Challia australis) and couple of extinct ones.
      Still pending:
Chelidura gansuensis (still in press, will be added onces pages will be available)
      Proreus decipiens (needs further investigation)
Labidura japonica (listed as subspecies by Heidi based on Moon & Kim, 1991 publication, in latest papers by Kamimura&Nishikawa is still placed tentatively under L. riparia, need to find more recent publication and agree what opinion we need to follow and may be it is worth ask expert opinion)

    • permico has written a new post "Species missing on DSF - up to date list" 03.09.2025

Validity of Proreus decipiens (Kirby, 1891) is difficult question, need further investigation, may be it is not valid taxon name, although species is valid itself. I can add Indian Proreus species which later was synonymized with P. decipiens and open separate topic on forum to discuss.

    • permico has written a new post "Isolaboidinae (7)" 03.09.2025

As type species I. kosswigi of type genus Isolaboides is synonym of Isolabella graeca this makes need of revision of this subfamily.

I think Parisolabis renschi Günther, 1932 was never transferred from Parisolabis genus, althouth it was mentioned by Hincks that 'P. renschi Günther, 1932, from Java, may also belong to
this genus but so far no material has been available for study'. We cannot transfer it until holotype is not investigated (or neotype designated and compared if original has been lost). May be

All two members of Paralaboides genus has been synonymized with Isolaboides immsi.

      My notes to this:

Original species Pseudisolabis kosswigi Burr, 1947 was designated as the type genus of Isolaboides Hincks, 1958 genus and received name of Isolaboides kosswigi (Hincks, 1947), and he also synonymized Pseudisolabis Burr, 1908 (type species P. walkeri) with Parisolabis Verhoeff, 1904 (type species P. novaezeelandiae) making Pseudisolabis as invalid taxon.

Harz in 1975 synonymized with Isolabella graeca Verhoeff, 1902 based on the study of very damaged holotype (missing abdomen as he mentioned).

Harz apparently overlooked Hincks publication in 1958 as in his article he synonymized Pseudisolabis kosswigi with Isolabella graeca as junior synonym and also wrote that Isolabella Verhoeff, 1902 is ‘to be considered a valid taxon before Pseudisolabis Burr 1908’.

Later in 1976 Harz and Kaltenbach mentioned synonymy of Isolabella, Pseudisolabis and Isolaboides in his publication.Page 47 citation:
'Gattung/Genus: Isolabella VERHOEFF 1902 (Verh. SB. Ges. Naturforsch. Freunde, Berlin, p. 15-16; typus generis: I. graeca VERHOEFF 1902; Pseudisolabis BURR 1908 part., Isolaboides HINCKS 1966)'.
Isolabella was placed under Parisolabinae there and mentioned '3 species in
India, Libanon, and Turkey' without listing them (I guess they meant Pseudoisolabis burri and P. tuberculata which were listed in Hincks 1958).

In 1983 Steinmann re-described holotype of Isolabella graeca but did not clarified taxonomic position (just wote as doubtful to belong to Chelisochidae) and referred to Harz and Kaltenbach 1976 without mentioning synonymy proposed by Harz. In Steinmann 1989a he placed Isolabella under Labiinae.

That means that species Isolaboides kosswigi is the type of genus Isolaboides but now Isolaboides has a parent outside of Isolaboides.
But Harz 1975 synonymy was overlooked by Brindle, Steinmann and Srivastava, they continued to assign species to the genus and even established a subfamily.

There are currently 4 other Isolaboides species, 2 of them assigned after Harz 1975:
Isolaboides rimosa Steinmann, 1983 assigned to Isolaboides by Steinmann 1983
Isolaboides immsi (Burr, 1913) assigned to Isolaboides by Srivastava 1996
Isolaboides burri (Borelli, 1909) assigned to Isolaboides by Hincks 1958
Isolaboides tuberculata Hincks, 1958 assigned to Isolaboides by Hincks 1958
Subfamily Isolaboidinae Brindle, 1978 (type genus – Isolaboides) established within Spongiphoridae in Brindle 1978, but listed under Anisolabididae in Srivastava 1996 (and later in Srivastava 2003 and all publications by Srivastava and Indian specialists also).
Genus Paralaboides Steinmann, 1989 (type species – Pseudisolabis jonathani Kapoor & Katiyar, 1971) was erected for P. jonathani and P. santokhi, both of them was later synonymized Srivastava 1996 with Isolaboides immsi making Paralaboides synonym of Isolaboides.

Species Isolabella graeca was assigned to its own subfamily Isolabellinae Verhoeff, 1902 then moved by Steinmann 1989a to Labiinae Burr, 1909, it was never placed under Isolaboidinae.

In general, overlooking of publication of Harz 1975 and ignoring of synonymy mentioned in Harz and Kaltenbach 1976 (source was cited by Steinmann fro I. graeca but not for I. kosswigi) went to discrepancy in taxonomy for the genus and subfamily.

Synonymy of E. albisquama is mentioned in Fauna Sinica, but without further reference. I found that it was synonymized by Steinmann in Catadermaptera I p 326 but as usually no explanation provided by him. I think we should follow Nishikawa (he refera to Srivastava) and list as separate until we get more clarity or proper comparison of holotypes. I will add synonymy proposed in Fauna Sinica and refer to Nishikawa as last source.

      Update:
      1. Obelura placement fixed.
      2. Euenkrates brindlei Srivastava&Kovac, 1993 added as separate species.
We have two species with identical name, thanks to Srivastava)
      3. Hypocosmiella fixed.
      Heidi also updated:
      4. Isolabella graeca and Isolaboides kosswigi synonymized
